This school, completed in 2004, was designed for the Brigade Foundation in J.P. Nagar, Bangalore and is spread over an area of 1,20,000sft. Initially designed to accommodate a junior school, eventually an additional block was added in the second phase of the project as the school expanded to include senior classes. Phase 1 was designed as an L-shaped plan enclosing a large assembly area that opened out onto the sports field. The singly loaded corridors have a view toward the central assembly area and the field beyond. Phase-2 was planned on stilts to retain the connection between the assembly area and the field, forming a covered transition in between. Smaller assembly courts create informal outdoor classrooms. The fenestrations on the West face of the building were angled to allow north light into the classrooms. The design of the building has assembly areas on the ground level, classrooms on the floor above and recreation spaces like a yoga terrace and art room on the last floor. A north light roof shades the terrace on the upper most floors. The circulation cores are clad in brick which lends to the institutional feel of the design.
