The Grand Mercure on Old Madras Road, Bangalore is a 200 room luxury hotel, designed keeping in mind the spirit of the location. A city of contrasts, Bangalore is where the old and new co-exist in effortless harmony. The cosmopolitan population prides itself in its openness to new ideas and modern way of life, yet respecting and holding on to valuable cultural traditions. The design intent is to emulate this essence through the interior experience.
The design takes its inspiration from the work and techniques of traditional craftsmen, abstracted and translated through colours, shapes and design details, retaining cultural richness with a modern interpretation. A graphic story was created influenced by the jewels of India which is an expression of India’s regal history.
