Foo

Location - Bengaluru
Design area (sq. ft) - 6000sqft
Project status / Completion date - 2022
Design team - Rajiv, Anuradha, Nadheem, Arnab, Shrejas, Anupama

Located on bustling Brigade Road, Foo’s first Bangalore outlet spans 6000 square feet across two levels, integrating the brand’s Asian rooted identity with local design elements. The ground floor features a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor seating, bathed in natural light through a glass façade and complemented by clay tile walls and lush greens. The space exudes a relaxed ambiance with cozy pendant lighting and Japanese flooring patterns, while curved seating booths and bold red upholstery add vibrancy.

The repeating flat-arch motif is used in interesting ways throughout the space in the shape of the rattan ceiling light, the metal framework on the glass partitions, the form of the curved booth seats and the patterns on the upholstery. The subtle presence of this repeating motif can be recreated in following outlets.

Upstairs, a vibrant bar area dominates the first floor, defined by an iconic cherry blossom tree and a rattan disc ceiling light installation, as the space seamlessly spills out into a verandah and a private dining room. Crafted with Asian-inspired motifs and local craftsmanship like Channapatna lacquered wood along the staircase, the design seamlessly merges modernity with Asian tradition interpreted in local techniques, promising a unique dining experience for patrons in Bangalore and setting a template for future Foo outlets.
